From Stephen Foster`s plea, "Hard Times come again no more.." come 16 tracks of adversity in the face of personal loss. It may be in the form of Jim McLean`s laments for his wife Alison or jilted lovers looking for better by "moving on" - protesters facing invasion by an American nuclear presence in their homeland or the American Negro slave confidently longing for the Eternal Freedom to come - the hope contained in new romance or Woody Guthrie`s self-identification with the itinerant worker - the legendary (but by no means historically accurate!) outlaw followers of Robin of Locksley, to dreams of going home; all contain the human hope for better - and the determination to pursue it.
